War Thunder game bans player for posting restricted warplane manual

(MENAFN) A War Thunder player has been banned from the game’s official forums after uploading a page from a restricted U.S. military manual, according to recent reports.

The incident involved the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) manual for the AV-8B and TAV-8B Harrier aircraft, which are operated by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Although the document was not officially classified, it carried a ‘Distribution Statement C’ label—meaning access is limited to U.S. government agencies and approved defense contractors.

This marks at least the ninth time a user has shared sensitive or restricted military documents on War Thunder’s forums to support arguments about in-game accuracy, as stated in the report.

War Thunder, developed by Gaijin Entertainment, is widely known for its realistic military simulation features and has drawn a devoted fan base, including military personnel and veterans. These users frequently debate the realism of vehicles and weapons in the game, often referencing real-world data.

While some forum participants argue that information available online should be fair game, Gaijin Entertainment enforces a strict rule banning the posting of any materials that are restricted or protected by defense regulations. The company reiterated that all game content is created using sources legally accessible to the general public.
