Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine’s Odesa Kills Two, Injures Fourteen

(MENAFN) A Russian drone assault on Ukraine’s Odesa region on Saturday resulted in two fatalities and 14 injuries, Ukrainian officials reported.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration, stated that six individuals are still hospitalized, with three in critical condition. "The rest are receiving outpatient care," he said on Telegram.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, the attack involved 22 drones. Air defense forces intercepted 21, and one was "neutralized" using electronic warfare. The Odesa region was specifically targeted, authorities confirmed.

The State Emergency Service added that a 21-story residential building in Odesa was struck, sparking a fire that engulfed three upper floors. “People were trapped in their apartments,” the agency reported.

Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov confirmed the recovery of a couple’s bodies from the wreckage. “My sincere condolences to the family and loved ones,” he shared on social media.

Odesa, a critical Black Sea port, has become a frequent target during the ongoing conflict, with a surge in drone attacks in recent months.
