Iran bans nuclear watchdog chief from entering country
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his support for the IAEA and its leadership in a statement posted on X, praising the agency’s ongoing efforts to monitor and verify Iran’s nuclear activities. "We support the IAEA's critical verification and monitoring efforts in Iran and commend the Director General and the IAEA for their dedication and professionalism," Rubio stated.
He also urged Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of IAEA personnel operating within the country.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that Grossi would no longer be allowed to enter Iran. According to Iranian state media, Araghchi said, “We will not allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to install cameras at our nuclear sites, and the agency’s chief will be banned from entering the country.”
This move further heightens tensions between Tehran and the international community over the country's nuclear program and its cooperation with global oversight bodies.
